BOYS BASKETBALL

ST. JOHN'S PREP 70, LINCOLN-SUDBURY 56: Senior point guard Denny Cakert had 11 points and seven assists in Lincoln-Sudbury's loss at St. John's Prep in the Division 1 North quarterfinals. The Warriors finish the season with an 18-4 record.

Senior Dominic Douglas had 13 points for L-S, which trailed 37-26 at halftime and never got closer than 10 in the fourth quarter. Senior center John Swords had seven points and 14 rebounds and senior Mitch Perez had 10 points.

"It was a great year," L-S coach Patrick Callahan said. "We grew a lot as the year went on, had some great wins over Acton-Boxboro and Westford. Going into the playoffs at 17-3 as an 8 seed shows how tough Division 1 North is.

"We were on the wrong side of the bracket. We had us, Charlestown, East Boston, St. John's Prep. It was a great year for L-S basketball, but it was one of those games where they outtoughed us.

Callahan admitted his team will need to regroup next season with new pieces.

"We're graduating 10 guys, so we're going to have to re-fit for next year," the coach said. "But we've gone from 50-something guys for tryouts to 80-something guys. Hopefully we can continue to grow this program."
