The Lincoln-Sudbury boys basketball team showed a lot in its recent win over Newton South.
During a week when the Warriors only had one game to play, they made it count.
Down 52-47 after three quarters in a hostile Newton South gym, the Warriors had an uphill battle.
As the fourth quarter got under way, there was an electricity in the stands as the Lions tried to avenge an early-season, 20-point loss to L-S. The game was going to come down to who could make the most clutch plays down the stretch.
In the end, L-S won 74-70.
The Warriors showed that they could mount comebacks and score in clutch situations. Senior Dominic Douglass had a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, many of his points coming in high pressure situations. Junior Ben Lawhorn was also a key part of the win with his own double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds).
This week the Warriors travel to Acton-Boxboro and Waltham. L-S beat Waltham by 35 points in their last meeting, but A-B was a different story. The Warriors lost to their biggest DCL rival on their home court after leading for most of the game.
If anything this win over Newton South on the road has definitely upped the confidence of the Warriors as they head into one of their toughest matchups of the year.
