Camp Wing Letter

Posted Thursday, December 02, 2010 by Michael Conley

Dear Parents/Guardians

This letter is a reminder that on Friday December 3rd, all students athletes that are selected for the LS Boys Varsity Basketball team will be attending a mandatory weekend (Friday Dec. 3rd – Sunday Dec. 5th) retreat at Camp Wing in Duxbury, MA. This letter is to further inform and reinforce the detail given out during the parents meeting prior to tryouts.

We will be leaving from Lincoln-Sudbury at 6pm on Friday evening and heading to the camp in Duxbury. The trip will culminate with a scrimmage at Dorchester High School on Sunday December 4th at Noon.  We will be returning to LS at approximately 3:30pm on Sunday. Your son has been aware of this trip for some time and it is his responsibility to be ready to go if selected for the Varsity team. All of the players have been informed of this responsibility and rosters will be posted on the LS Boys Basketball board on Friday morning.

The necessary items your son will need for the trip is attached to the back of this letter and should be brought to school tomorrow if you are unable to return home before the 430pm practice time.  Your son will need $25 cash to be used for meals on Friday night and lunch on Saturday. All other expenses for this weekend have been paid for by the friends of LS Basketball.

Camp Wing and its organization Crossroads 4 kids (http://www.crossroads4kids.org/wing) has successfully worked with at risk youth for over 70 years and runs some of the best off-site group camping programs in the state.  The facility is comprised of over 220 acres of program area and woods complete with its own colonial fort. We are using this weekend as a way for the boys to get to know each other better and participate in important team building activities. We will of course be playing some basketball and we will have mandatory study hours on Saturday night.

The entire LS Boys Basketball Coaching Staff consisting of 3 head coaches and 2 assistants will be chaperoning the trip and handling transportation.

If you have ANY questions or concerns, please feel free to call or email me.

Sincerely,
